Focus/Exposure Lock

Compose photographs with off-center subjects.

  1. Position the subject in the focus frame and press the shutter button halfway to lock focus and exposure. Focus and exposure will remain locked while the shutter button is pressed halfway (AF/AE lock).

  2. Press the button all the way down.

The Function Buttons

Focus and/or exposure lock can be assigned to a function button.

Option Description
[AE-LOCK] Pressing the button locks exposure.
[AF-LOCK] Pressing the button locks focus.
[AE/AF LOCK] Pressing the button locks both focus and exposure.

At default settings, [AF-LOCK] is assigned to the [Fn2] button (aThe Function Buttons).

When a function button is used for focus or exposure lock, the affected setting will remain locked even when the shutter button is pressed halfway.
