The following warnings appear in the display.

Warning Description
i (red) Low battery. Charge the battery or insert a fully-charged spare battery.
j (red) Battery exhausted. Charge the battery or insert a fully-charged spare battery.
s (displayed in red with red focus frame) The camera cannot focus. Focus on another subject at the same distance, then recompose the shot.
Aperture or shutter speed displayed in red The subject is too bright or too dark. Movies can be shot, but will be over- or under-exposed.
[FOCUS ERROR] Camera malfunction. Turn the camera off and then on again. If the problem persists, contact your Fujifilm dealer.
[LENS CONTROL ERROR]

[MEDIA NOT INITIALIZED]
  • The memory card is not formatted or the memory card has been formatted in a computer or other device: Format the memory card in the camera.
  • The memory card contacts require cleaning: Clean the contacts with a soft, dry cloth. If the message is repeated, format the card. If the message persists, replace the card.
  • Camera malfunction: Contact your Fujifilm dealer.
[MEDIA ERROR]
  • The memory card is not formatted for use in the camera: Format the card.
  • The memory card contacts require cleaning or the memory card is damaged: Clean the contacts with a soft, dry cloth. If the message is repeated, format the card. If the message persists, replace the card.
  • Incompatible memory card: Use a compatible card.
  • Camera malfunction: Contact your Fujifilm dealer.
[PROTECTED MEDIA] The memory card is locked. Unlock the card.
[MEMORY FULL] The memory card is full and pictures cannot be recorded. Delete pictures or insert a memory card with more free space.
[WRITE ERROR]
  • Memory card error or connection error: Reinsert the card or turn the camera off and then on again. If the message persists, contact your Fujifilm dealer.
  • Not enough memory remaining to record additional files: Delete files or insert a memory card with more free space.
  • The memory card was removed while data were being recorded: Do not remove the memory card during recording.
  • The memory card write speed is slow: When recording movies, be sure the memory card write speed is fast enough.
[READ ERROR]
  • The file is corrupt or was not created with the camera: The file cannot be viewed.
  • The memory card contacts require cleaning: Clean the contacts with a soft, dry cloth. If the message is repeated, format the card. If the message persists, replace the card.
  • Camera malfunction: Contact your Fujifilm dealer.
p (yellow)
[CAMERA IS APPROACHING HIGH TEMPER-
ATURE LIMIT.DO NOT HOLD CAMERA FOR
LONG PERIODS OF TIME]
The camera is approaching the maximum temperature allowed. Remaining in contact with the camera could result in low-temperature burns; do not continue holding the camera. The camera will shortly turn off automatically. Turn the camera off and wait for it to cool. Mottling may increase in pictures taken when this warning is displayed.

SHUTTING DOWN]
The camera temperature has reached the cutoff point and the camera is about to turn off automatically. Turn the camera off and wait for it to cool. Mottling may increase in pictures taken when this warning is displayed.
